Goodness gracious, it is 2012. Where did the time go? I am no longer a little girl living in my parents’ house. I went to college, graduated, in the real world, and planning a wedding. Crazy!
Since the new year has begun, everyone starts making New Year’s resolutions to start to improve themselves. Let’s be honest, I have been one of those to say “it is my year to lose weight” and you only eat healthier and workout for a solid...…two weeks. I am tired of making new year resolutions and not sticking to them. So now, in front of all of you, I am going to make life resolutions. I want to improve myself as a whole, forever. Not just a few weeks. So here I am blogging about it in front of all of you to make me accountable.
My Resolutions in no particular order:
1. Continue to grow as a Christian. Being a Christian is very important to me and my lifestyle. As I continue to grow older, I want to continue to grow closer and closer to God. I want my future children (don’t worry Mom and Dad, I won’t have kids for another 20 years) to have the relationship with the Lord as I do if not stronger.
a. Do not get me wrong, I pray, but there is no such thing as praying too much. I want to pray more whether it is for me, family, friends, or a stranger I saw struggling. “Pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” - I Thessalonians 5:17-18.
b. Read the bible more often. I want to establish a time daily to read the bible with myself or others. In college I attended a small group, I would love to find another small group to attend or continue on my own. Matthew 4:4 reads “Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
c. Fellowship is extremely important as a Christian. The Bible encourages everyone to meet together regularly (Sunday worships). If I miss church on a Sunday, I usually do not catch myself up on what I have missed. Therefore, I want to still follow their service online.
2. Continue to Give/Volunteer. Remember the saying "it is better to give than receive." Giving is truthfully one of the ultimate gifts we can give to ourselves. When giving, we enrich the lives of others, who may be in great need and/or experiencing times of trouble. Giving fills my soul and softens my heart, knowing that through our moment of unselfish giving, we made someone else’s life just a little better. A little goes a long way to those who are in need.
3. Finish a book. No, I do not want to finish writing a book of my own. I want to finishing reading a book. A sad resolution, huh? This past year I have began reading numerous books. However, I have not finished any of them. This year, I want to actually finish reading all the books I began last year. In my future, I want to continue reading books and actually finish.
4. Gain an immune system. I probably get sick the most out of all my family and friends. Not only am I a child when it comes to crafts, I think my immune system never grew up either. It is not even mid-January and I have already been sick. I have become car sick during the curvy roads in the mountains, gotten the stomach bug, and currently have pink eye. Let’s pray that will be all I get for the entire year shall we?
6. Become skinny healthier. Becoming skinny has become overrated. I truthfully just want to be healthy. Let’s face the facts shall we, I was not a skinny gal growing up. I was lucky if I was active outside of playing softball. Eating wise? God bless my arteries. I was the child who was best friends with Little Debbie who I hid under the couch from my mom. When I was able to drive, I ate fast food and went out to eat regularly. Everyone has an awkward phase (if you say you don’t, we all know you are lying). Mine was literally over a decade… from the age seven to nineteen. It wasn’t until I was nineteen when I started to cut out fast food (partially because I was no longer working during the college school year and had no money), learned to exercise outside of softball, and even started to eat vegetables outside of lettuce and carrots! The drastic change from old habits shocked my body and I lost almost fifty pounds in a year. Two years later, I am still not where I want to be. I know I am healthier than my past, however, I know I still have improvements to make in my eating and exercising. During my blogging, I hope to discover healthier, delicious options and great work out tips that I can share with each of you!
7. Become less clumsy. Yes, I seriously want to become less of a klutz in my life. In all seriousness, I trip over my own two feet walking, fall up/down the stairs, run into things, etc on a daily basis. I am not quite sure how my parents managed to deal with my clumsy self throughout all the years. I set the house on fire, fell through the ceiling, broke the garage glass, fell down the stairs and took out a railing by trying to catch my fall to only name a few... I wish my honey, our future home, and our future children the best of luck with me.
